A flat cap sits on the head through the tension of its band, not through a fitted inner ring. Measure around your head just above the ears and pick the range your measurement falls in. If you are between two ranges, take the larger one: the cloth relaxes with wear, it does not shrink back. Allow for the lining: a brushed or quilted interior takes roughly 0.5 cm off the internal circumference. If you measure at the top of a range, take the next range up.
