The eight panels carry their volume above the band, so the fit is decided at the band alone. Measure just above the ears and take the range your measurement falls in; the crown will drape the same way in every size. Allow for the lining: a brushed or quilted interior takes roughly 0.5 cm off the internal circumference. If you measure at the top of a range, take the next range up.
